Daniel Negreanu’s bracelet hunt is no secret within the poker community. He plays as many World Series of Poker events as anyone every year and doesn’t hide his passion for winning WSOP Player of the Year accolades. However, that elusive seventh career bracelet has been escaping his reach since 2013.
Negreanu has been highly confident with his gameplay and even now, he still puts all his faith in it. Not just faith, the pro is also putting money, precisely $1 MILLION against eager players that he’ll definitely win a 2020 WSOP bracelet!
Either he’s sure to end the bracelet hunt this year or he’ll be out a hefty chunk of change.
We’re all familiar with the changed scenario of WSOP, due to Covid-19 this year – the entire series is taking place online (if the fall series doesn’t pan out). At this stage, we can only hope for a major poker series as this running seamlessly in the fall.
It didn’t take long for Negreanu to find some takers. He sold off the entire amount to several players, including Connor Drinan and Ali Imsirovic. He allowed each taker to bet up to $100,000.
The 2020 WSOP Online Bracelet series begins this July 1st with 31 bracelet events on WSOP.com for Nevada and New Jersey players. On July 20th, the series will shift to the GGPoker site, which Negreanu promotes, for another 54 WSOP events running until September 6th.
The six-time bracelet winner plans to travel to Mexico to compete in the GGPoker events, as they aren’t available in the US. He has 85 shots at winning a bracelet, if of course there isn’t a live WSOP in Las Vegas in the Fall. And as part of the bet, any bracelet won in 2020 counts.
What do you think? Will he ship a bracelet and win the bet, or will he lose almost 2% of his career live tournament earnings?
