Jaydeep Dawer Ships The 60 LAC GTD PPL Special Edition Main Event For 11,40,000

“Stop chasing the money and start chasing the passion.” This is what exactly poker demands and we see Jaydeep Dawer following it pretty well.

Jaydeep won the 60 LAC GTD Main Event of the 2.4 Cr GTD PPL Special Edition where some of the biggest names in the country took part. The last day of PPL gathered numerous memories and to recall it, we called up Jaydeep and asked few questions.

Question: How do you feel after winning 60 LAC GTD Main Event?

Jaydeep Dawer: It feels AWESOME! Shipping any tournament gives an ecstatic feeling to any Poker player and when it is the PPL Main Event; it’s an icing on the cake!

Q: How tough was the field?

JD: The field of players on Indian sites is always tough and very competitive with all the pros and regs being at the top of their game in a big event like this. I feel running deep is a Poker player’s forte and skill, but shipping the tournament is the generosity of the Poker God’s being on his side that particular day!

Q: How was your experience in the tournament?

JD: Oh, I played on Pokerbaazi after almost 2 years! No offense here, but I was not a very big fan of the old UI. After playing this PPL, I definitely would have to change my mind. The Baazi Tech team has surely worked hard and the efforts are visible. Big cheers to the Navi and the whole Baazi Team.

Q4: Any special moment/hand in the tourney?

JD: It was in HU. I had a 2 to 1 chip lead. Lost 2 hands almost back to back when my AKs did not hold up. Now he had a 2.5 to 1 chip lead. The next hand yo_bitch open 1.8L. I called with J9s. Flop is a 7d8d3s. He raises 1.9L. I reraised him to 5.5L. He flatted. Turn was a Qh. I bet 8.2L. He again flatted. River is a Kh. I tank shoved my entire stack. He folded. I think that was the turning hand as that again gave me the chip lead and the coveted title subsequently.

Q: Any tips or suggestions for fellow Baazigars?

JD : A Poker player learns something new every day and there is no end to this Learning process. We can only keep upgrading our skill levels in the process to master the game which actually might not happen in a lifetime.

Q: The MoneyMaker 1 Crore GTD event is coming soon, what are your thoughts for that? Will you be playing that?

JD: Looking forward to that event. Pokerbaazi is breaking the 1Cr psychological barrier and that is going to be one heck of a tournament. Definitely, will be playing that. Have already noted 1st Oct in my diary!!! GL to Pokerbaazi for the same.

Q: Whats your poker story? How did you end up playing poker?

JD : Well, my Poker story is no different from most of the Poker players in India. Started playing on Zynga Poker in 2010-11 for entertainment. Was amused by the skill in the game and being an engineer by profession the math intrigued me. Got into playing live home games, in Goa and Bangalore till I got a knack to play online and live tournaments on the Indian platform. At 45, I am on the wrong side of the age in the Poker circuit but the fellow players have always been supportive and friendly. Still, have a lot to learn from them!!!
