PokerBaazi.com’s Game Changer has fast become one of the most exciting tournaments in online poker today. Launched back in February 2019, the inaugural event held a 2 Cr guarantee with a buy-in of INR 11,000. It went on to record an unbelievable 3.78 Cr in prize pool, going down in the books as India’s Biggest online poker tournament – by far. Prashanth Sekar emerged victorious, taking down the title along with a massive payday of INR 60L!
By the time the second edition came around, PokerBaazi CEO Mr Navkiran Singh made the announcement that while the 2 Cr guarantee would remain the same, the buy-in would be halved to INR 5,500 – ensuring that absolutely every player could get a chance to take part in the monumental event. The news raised plenty of doubts about how the guarantee would be met – but doing what they do best, PokerBaazi.com had yet again managed to raise the bar successfully and went on to record a 2.63 Cr prize pool, attracting a field of almost 4800 players! This Edition saw Shagun Jain winning the spoils, taking home a first place payday of INR 40L!
After much anticipation, the third Edition of the Game Changer is finally here, with Flight 1A being played out last night. The event boasts the usual 2 Cr guarantee with the reduced 5.5k buy-in, and includes 4 starting flights leading up to Day 2 which is scheduled on Sunday, July 5.
Let’s take a look at how Day 1 of the event unfolded:
Flight 1A – 1st July’20
Action kicked off on PokerBaazi.com at 8pm last evening, and after the late registration period was completed, Flight 1A of the event went on to record a total of 1030 entries (including 308 re-entries). Each starting flight will see 27 complete levels being played out, after which players bag their respective stacks and return for Day 2 on Sunday.
Only 114 players managed to make it through the day yesterday, and leading the way is Jayant “loserfish19” Makkar and his stack of 4.34L. Right behind him is Kumar “23offsuits” Vatsal (3.93L) and Ankit “helter_skelter” Kapoor (3.86L). Plenty of known pros and regulars managed to make it through the day with big stacks. Some notables include Kartik “TheInternetKid” Ved (3.53L), Romit “tilt83” Advani (3.04L), Ashish “OMG_spew” Munot (2.73L), Siddhanth “ender” Kripalani (2.72L), Sriharsha “ivey2” Doddapaneni (2.61L), Zarvan “MomSaid5Bet” Tumboli (1.59L), Rubin “kornkid” Labroo (1.52L), Sahil “ImHighIshove” Mahboobani (1.5L) ,Aditya “gangajal” Sushant (1.36L), Ankit “d00mtr00p3r” Wadhawan (1.12L), Jaydeep “JDBhaiya” Dawer (1L), Guruprasad “fish_calling” Gupta (98.49K) and Abhishek “singhsaab” Goindi (84.83K).
Three starting flights remain, namely 1B, 1C and 1D – scheduled at 8pm everyday from today – and players can choose to participate in these even while they may have already qualified yesterday. If a player has qualified (or survived the day) with more than one stack, their biggest stack will be taken forward to Day 2. This means that many players who have managed to survive with average or below average stacks could choose to fire again in one of the following Flights, considering the magnitude and extremely high ROI of this tournament.
Events such as these one only come around once in a while, and when they do, it would be a crime for any poker enthusiast to miss out! While the buy-in has been reduced for this very reason, there are also plenty of opportunities for players to get their hands on discounted tickets and satellite and step satty entries to the event for as little as INR 10! Additionally, deposit codes are also available on the website, giving players the option to deposit a said amount and receive a free ticket to the event.
Check out all the available offers and make sure to be at the felts this evening as we get set for Day 2 of the historic event. Good luck to everyone!
