“The program is leading the nation in college completion rates, more than quintupling the national average for children from similar demographics and proving what is possible when our brilliant students are given the access they deserve,” CEO Mark DiBella told papercitymag.
Since its inception in 2006, The Oil & Gas Texas Hold’em Tournament has raised over $10 Million and is attended by individuals from a variety of business sectors across the planet. The 13th edition of the event was held on 1st March 2018, at The Corinthian in Houston, Texas.
The event attracted $850,000 in contributions via 60 corporates, foundations, and individual sponsorship – even before the cards were dealt. Another $450,000 was received subsequently as the games proceeded. The contributions will make their way towards YES Prep’s 17 schools that cater to around 12,500 students.
In the final round, iHostPoker’s Bill Heuer announced the winner of the tournament – Rick White, seated at the Merill Lynch Table. “Players came from across the country to try their luck and test their poker faces against their brethren in the energy industry,” according to YES Prep Comittee Member, Mark Gregg.
