Professional poker players in India are definitely creating a dent and not just in the Asian circuit! While most of the Indian poker pros have flocked to Vietnam for the 2019 WPT series, Abhishek Goindi decided to travel a few more miles for the 2019 WPT Barcelona series.
The series just came to end and one of the last events to conclude was the €1,100 PLO Event with a guarantee of €100,000 (INR 78.28 Lakhs). The event witnessed three Indian participants including Goindi, Jagdeep Singh and Gaurav Gala. All three of them made it to the final table proving the new heights Indian poker is reaching.
The final table played out on Monday and unfortunately Gala was the first to be sent home in 8th. Sing was the next to go in 7th. Goindi on the other hand played some outstanding poker and finished in 2nd taking home a whopping €25,000 (INR 19.57 Lakhs).
Goindi is a force to reckon with when it comes to live poker. His major hauls include the DPT High Roller for INR 14.5 Lakhs, the runner-up finish in the 2012 Macau Poker Cup Red Dragon Event for $136,245 and his latest 3 lakh Vegas package with which he hopes to create a stir in the upcoming 50th edition of the WSOP.
Kudos to our fellow Indians for bringing laurels to the poker community and making a mark in the global circuit! This is just the beginning of Indian poker ladies and gentlemen.
