Aditya Agarwal Eliminated in 27th Place

Monster Stack Event

Event #48: The WSOP $1,500 No-Limit Hold ‘em Monster Stack Event saw a massive playing field of 6,260. An action packed 2 days saw some quick eliminations with only 257 entering Day 3 of the event. Yet another commendable run for Team India’s poker Ace Aditya Agarwal witnessed him enter Day 3 as one of the chip leaders with a huge chip stack of 1,100,000. Day 3 saw the field size reduce to just 29 in a span of ten hours. Agarwal made it through the day and returned for Day 4 in 23rd position with 1,680,000 chips.

Early on day 4, we saw action fold down to Aditya on the button, who shoved all in with his last 280,000 chips. Daniel Corbett made the call from the big blind and Agarwal was at risk.

Daniel Corbett: 10s 4s
Aditya Agarwal: Kh 5h

The flop came Ks 4h 4c and Corbett out-flopped Agarwal with trip fours despite Agarwal pairing his king. The Ad on the turn and the 6h on the river were of no help to Agarwal as he was eliminated in 27th place.

Agarwal has already had an incredible series so far. Here are a couple of his other winnings from the WSOP 2018:

The game of poker is no longer in its infancy in India. Concentrated in only a few urban areas among the millennial-rich, it is now catching the imagination of the larger audiences. The reason the game hasn’t reached its all time high is due to the fact that it has the “gambling” tag attached to it and is largely frowned upon by the general public, attaching a lot of negative stigma to it. What they lack is knowledge about the element of skill involved in playing the sport – but news like this from the biggest events in the world only help keep these taboos at bay. Change is definitely underway. Good job Team India!
