The World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) recently made its way to the famous Bicycle Casino in Las Vegas, and it was none other than 2016 Aussie Millions winner Ari Engel, who maneuvered through 108 entries to take down event #5 – $365 Omaha Hi-Lo for $9,730 as well as an astounding ninth Gold Ring!
This victory places Ari Engel right behind Valentin Vornicu who currently possesses the all-time record with 10 WSOPC Gold Rings. In fact, Vornicu was also present at the final table of Event #5 along with Engel. However, he was very short stacked and ended up busting out in 8th place for $1,045.
The final table also included Hollywood actor James Woods (Ghosts of Mississippi and Salvador). Woods, also known for his controversial tweets, made it all the way to three-handed play before falling to Engel.
Engel then proceeded to take a 3:1 chip lead into heads-up play against Don Halpern and it was only a matter of time before he busted the latter to clinch the title. Phuong Tran, Henry Chow, and Olfar Arneson, who finished 10th through 12th place respectively, received $675 each for their efforts.
A Look at the Final Payouts:
1 Ari Engel – $9,730
2 Don Halpern – $6,010
3 James Woods – $4,275
4 Frankie O’Dell – $3,105
5 Jesse David – $2,300
6 Darryl Mann – $1,740
7 Donald Garrett – $1,335
