Jeremy Wien Ships 2018 WSOP $5,000 Buy-In Big Blind Ante Tournament

Jeremy Wein cut through a massive field of 518 entries at the 2018 World Series of Poker (WSOP) $5000 Buy-in Big Blind Ante No-Limit Hold’em Event to walk away with the 1st place prize of a cool $537,710 as well as a Gold Bracelet for his efforts.

“It’s pretty surreal. It’s not what I do for a living, but I come out here for a few tournaments every summer, sometimes as many as 15 or so. You know, I got close to a final table once a few years ago, I’ve had a few cashes, but other than that, nothing crazy,” Wien stated, according to wsop.com. “I never actually expected it to happen, even though I’ve dreamed about it. I’ve given my bracelet ceremony speech a few times in my head,” he added.

Wien had to overcome an extremely tough final table that included the likes of Jake Schindler, Shawn Buchanan and David Peters among others. David Laka lead the way for most of the final table and actually went in heads-up against Wien with a 4:1 chip lead but the latter managed to come out on top.

A look at the final table payouts:

  1. Jeremy Wien – $537,710
  2. David Laka – $332,328
  3. Eric Blair – $228,307
  4. Jake Schindler – $159,575
  5. John Amato – $113,510
  6. Shawn Buchanan – $82,199
  7. David Peters – $60,618
  8. Richard Tuhrim – $45,538
  9. Patrick Truong – $34,862
