The EPT Barcelona Main Event saw the conclusion of Day 3 bring the playing field down to just 56, with Irishman Mark Buckley’s 2,650,000 chips leading the way. The closing hours saw the chip lead fluctuate between tons of players, finally landing with Mark as the Day came to an end.
Following suit not so far behind are Fabiano Kovalski (2,530,000) and Matthias Tikerpe (2,325,000). A couple of big names still in the running include EPT champion Ognyan Dimov (1,730,000) and 2015 EPT Barcelona champion John Juanda (1,210,000)
The field witnessed a few early exits of the big wigs including EPT Champions Benny Spindler (204th – €9,740), Patrik Antonius (196th – €9,740) and Dominik Panka (64th – €19,760). Another favourite, Viktor Blom was sent to the rail early with a min-cash of €8,900.
Day 2 chip leader Ben Wilinofsky unfortunately had to settle for €12,080 and the 123rd place finish.
Mark Buckley’s chipped up when eliminated Tony Broekhof with his pocket kings. His pocket aces then busted Simon Mattsson and another major chip up came when Yi Ang Lin was eliminated with Buckley’s set of deuces. A comfortable stack for the Irish man going into Day 4.
