The $3,500 buy-in World Poker Tour Seminole Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open saw an action packed 5 days with 898 entrants. It was 30-year-old Czech Republican Pavel Plesuv who emerged victorious after five days of play taking home a paycheck of $504,820. This victory was much needed redemption after he just missed the trophy and had to settle for the runner up place in the WPT Prague (Season XIV) for $130,524.
Heads up play began with Plesuv having a 6:1 chip lead over Jim Gilbert. Level 34 of this heads up battle saw the final hand play out. Gilbert went all in with 9 million holding pocket nines and was up against Plesuv’s ace-jack. An ace on the flop and Gilbert was sent packing in the runner up position for $326,565. This brings his total earnings to more than $4 million of which $2.6 million has come in 2018! What a year it has been indeed!
