Poker Player Loses Quads over Quads to win $427,453

Who says you cannot make a bad run work for you? The Motor City Casino in Detroit played host to the biggest ever Bad Beat Jackpot in the history of the United States last month. Scott (last name unknown) tabled quad 3’s at the $1/$2 No Limit Hold’em table only to see that his opponent held the absolute nuts – Quad Q’s.

Usually, any poker player that suffers such a devastating cooler would be sad or unhappy or angry or at the very least – quite tilted. Well, it was the opposite for Scott who walked away with 40% ($427,453) of the Jackpot as the losing player, while the winner took home 20% ($213,713) and the other 4 players with $106,856 each.

How does the Bad Beat Jackpot System Work?

At the Motor City Casino, if a player hits any four of a kind and is beaten by another player’s four of a kind, they hit the bad beat jackpot. Both players must have pocket pairs. The four of a kind must only be beaten by another four of a kind. A straight flush only wins them the much smaller bad beat jackpot.

I guess it really does pay to lose sometimes!
