WSOP Europe kicks off with Event #1: €550 Colossus NLHE
The World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) kicked off on the 9th of October and will run through to the 2nd of November. 10 events with massive fields and guarantees will be played out over three weeks at the King’s Casino Rozvadov in Czech Republic.
Kicking things off was the €550 buy-in Colossus Event, which included 8 starting flights and a total of 2,992 entrants! These numbers were responsible for the prize pool touching $1,435,412, crossing the guaranteed $1,000,000 with ease. After over 12 hours and 15 levels of play on Day 2, the event is down to the final 10 players. Leading the unofficial Final Table is Poland’s Wojciech Wyrebski and his 11,875,000 chips. Germany’s Hannes Neurauter and Dariusz Glinski from Poland round up the top three, trailing Wybrebski with stacks of 11,825,000 and 9,350,000 respectively.
Day 2 began with 296 players returning to the felts, and by the time the dinner break came around there were only 32 survivors. Action slowed down a little post the break, and at the end of the 15th level of the day 11 were left and the tournament director decided that they would play down to 10 players before calling it a day.
The Final Table will resume on Monday at 3:00 PM Local time and will be streamed with a 30 minute delay once 8 players remain. While each player is guaranteed a pay out of at-least €13,410, all 10 have their eyes on the whopping €2,03,820 first place prize and a WSOPE gold bracelet.
