Goa casinos were once again hit with another blow that the governing facilities are still unable to take a decision on when to reopen casinos.
Decision On When To Reopen Casinos
Under the Union 5.0 guidelines issued by the Union Ministry for Home Affairs, most activities in Goa will reopen with limits on the numbers of people in establishments and at events.
Although the casinos have made formal requests and submitted proposals to reopen operations, the casinos in River Mandovi and the onshore casinos will remain closed for now.
All casinos were shut down in May as part of the coronavirus measures which ended up leading to the industry asking the government for special exemptions and financial help to stay afloat.
While the offshore casinos were given yet another six-month extension to operate at the end of September, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s position has not changed since June when he warned that the casinos wouldn’t reopen anytime soon.
