Streaming platforms have been growing consistently over the last few years. During the Q1 of 2021, they’ve continued with their steady growth. Platforms like Facebook Gaming and Twitch have seen considerable growth during the first quarter of 2021, however, YouTube Gaming has seen a decline in numbers.
In a recent report from StreamLabs and Stream Hatchet, Twitch still remains uncontested at the top amongst streaming platforms, generating over 72% of all hours watched across the market in Q1 2021.
YouTube Gaming has continued its growth but the numbers have started to dwindle in the last 12 months. In contrast, FB Gaming has almost doubled it’s hours watched in the last year and is now heading for the 2nd spot!
All of the three mentioned platforms have seen decent growth in their audiences in Q1 of 2021 but Twitch continued its dominance and showed an even better growth compared to last year! The streaming giant generated 6.3 billion hours watched in Q1 2021 — a 97% increase year-on-year.
Hours watched on YouTube Gaming grew from 1.1 billion to 1.4 billion, just about keeping the platform in second place. While hours watched on YouTube Gaming are stagnating, viewership is up 28% year-on-year, yet it is decreasing per quarter. Viewership is down 28% contrasted with Q4 2020, however generally speaking overall growth is increasing.
