Usain ‘Lightening’ Bolt, is a retired Jamaican sprinter, and the first person to ever hold the 100 metres as well as 200 metres world records. He also holds the world record as part of the 4 x 100 metres relay and is widely considered to be the greatest sprinter of all time due to his incredible achievements in the field.
As can be seen with several other retired sports professionals, Bolt can now often be spotted at the poker tables. Recently, he was seen at the PCA Bahamas along with comedian Kevin Hart and some of the bigwigs in the poker industry – Jeff Gross, Andre Akkari, Kevin Martin, Jake Cody, Jaime Staples, Igor Kurganov, Fatima Moreira De Melo and Liv Boeree.
“I’m not the best poker player but I’m in training, I dabble around at my friends’ houses. I’ve never really played for proper money, we just use normal chips and stuff like that,” said Bolt. “I wouldn’t ever have put in any big stakes so it’s kind of scary to know what sort of money these guys are playing for in the big leagues. It’s millions. It’s always good to branch out because people tell you to stick to what you know but you never test yourself or learn new things,” he added.
The PCA Bahamas has always been one of the favorites in the tournament circuit for most players since its inception in 2004. It was none other than Gus Hansen who took down the first main event for $455,780 after besting a field of 221 entrants. In 2009 Canada’s Poorya Nazari took home $3 Million, which shows that the number of entries has steadily increased each year.
Comedian Kevin Hart and eight time olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt are also gearing up to add some fun factor to the event as they face off in a Heads-up match with their #Gameon promotion.
